The Enfield Naturopathic Clinic strives to provide excellence in naturopathic medical care, for the whole family, in a welcoming, supportive and professional environment.
We provide options to promote, maintain and restore your health. Guided by the principles of naturopathic medicine, we aim to create, in collaboration with you, an individualized and attainable plan for a healthier you.

The following services may be suggested in individualized treatment protocols. Care will be taken to encourage a protocol that feels comfortable and manageable for you.

Clinical Nutrition examines the relationship between diet and health. Treatment may include special diets and nutritional supplements such as vitamins, minerals, enzymes and other neutraceuticals.

Botanical Medicine (Herbal Medicine) uses plant substances for their healing effects and nutritional value. Plant substances may be prescribed as tinctures or capsules to be taken internally or used externally.

Homeopathic Medicine is based on the principle of “like cures like” and uses minute amounts of natural substances to stimulate the self-healing abilities of the body.

Traditional Asian Medicine is based on balancing the flow of Chi (energy) through the meridian pathways. Dietary advice may be based on traditional Chinese medical theory.

Lifestyle Counselling involves identifying risk factors and helping patients to make informed choices to reach and maintain optimal health.

Food Intolerance Testing

Identifying underlying food intolerances can be helpful to address a variety of symptoms.

Bowen Therapy is a gentle physical therapy that stimulates the body to heal with minimal intervention.

The first appointment with Dr. Sterchi, ND, is 1.5 hours in length. During the first appointment your concerns and symptoms are discussed. Time is taken to hear the complaints you are experiencing, your medical history, to conduct a review of symptoms, to learn your goals of care, and to complete a urinalysis. If time permits, a screening physical exam is conducted.

The second appointment is an hour in length to allow for completion of the screening physical exam and to discuss the treatment protocol. Typically, treatment is not prescribed until the second appointment to allow Dr. Sterchi, ND, time to review all of the information gathered from the first appointment and to create a personalized treatment protocol.

Follow up appointments are based on your needs. Typically, a follow up appointment will be scheduled one month following your second appointment to assess and modify treatment. These appointments range in time from 30 minutes to up to 60 minutes, depending upon the time required for you. Further follow up appointments are scheduled on an as needed basis.

Acute appointments, 15 minutes in length, are available for existing patients of the clinic.

Insurance Coverage and Direct Billing
Increasingly insurance companies are recognizing naturopathic medicine and providing coverage for services of a Naturopathic Doctor.

In addition, insurance companies such as Medavie Blue Cross, Sunlife, Manulife, Chambers of Commerce, Standard Life and Great West Life are allowing for direct billing to occur for specific group plans.

Please contact Annette at 902-883-3838 to see if your group plan covers naturopathic services and qualifies for direct billing.

Bowen Therapy

Dr. Sterchi, ND, is a Certified Bowen Practitioner and is pleased to provide the option of Bowen therapy to her patients. Bowen therapy is a gentle, physical therapy that stimulates the body to heal with minimal intervention. Bowen Therapy addresses the whole body by restoring balance to the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS controls the majority of bodily functions and is very susceptible to external stressors. By shifting the ANS from sympathetic dominance (fight or flight mode) to parasympathetic dominance (rest, relax and repair mode), healing can occur. As many people are affected by stress in our modern lives, Dr. Sterchi, ND, has found Bowen therapy to be an invaluable tool in helping to restore balance to the body and to promote healing. Bowen therapy can be used to address acute injuries and long standing symptoms, and is appropriate for individuals of all ages.

Carolyn was fortunate to be raised in a family that values health and nutrition. From a young age she was taught to respect and care for her body and to enjoy the nutritional value of bunny food and birdseed long before it was fashionable.

A genuine interest in people led her to study psychology at Huron University College at the University of Western Ontario. With these influences it was only natural that she would choose a career that reflected what she values most – people, health and education. Personal and family health experiences led her to choose a career in naturopathic medicine specifically.

Carolyn is a graduate of the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. Professionally, Carolyn is a member of the Nova Scotia Association of Naturopathic Doctors (NSAND) and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND). She is pleased to represent Nova Scotia on the Canadian Naturopathic Coordinating Council.

From the love for her nephews and nieces to the special role her grandmas played in her life, Carolyn has a warmth for treating patients of all ages. She will take the time to listen to you and to formulate a manageable plan for a healthier you, regardless of your starting point.

Annette welcomes our patients with a cheerful smile as they enter the clinic. Her caring and efficient manner helps us meet the various needs of our patients. Annette brings a wealth of knowledge to the clinic with her training and experience. When not at the clinic, Annette enjoys motorcycling, scuba diving and traveling to sunny destinations.

Ellewood is affectionately known as our clinic greeter. She brings a warm and distinct welcome to the clinic. She is a hypoallergenic non-shedding wheaten terrier. We recognize that her presence might not bring the same joy to all. Please let us know if you would like for her to be kept on her leash during your appointment.
